About us

Beechmont Presbyterian Church is nestled in the Beechmont Neighborhood of South Louisville.  Established in 1930, like many other churches, it reached it's highest membership in the 1950's & 1960's, serving 250+ congregants.

Today we are much smaller, but a more culturally diverse,  multi-racial & multi-cultural congregation, reflecting the changes in our city and neighborhood, over time.  We welcome the broader multicultural community around us to grow in faith through worship, Bible study, service, prayer, and outreach.  We currently fulfill this vision through weekly English as a Second Language classes (aka English Language Learners); Sunday School classes with primarily Sudanese American and Hispanic/Lation children and youth who form part of our communmity of faith; monthly joint worship services between the Sudanese, English-speaking and Spanish-speaking populations of our community of faith; and involvement with the Mid-Kentucky Hispanic/Latino Ministry of Preston Highway in Louisville.  We partner with South Louisville Community Ministries (SLCM), sharing our facilities and supporting them with financial and material offerings.

We have a rich base of cross-cultural or intercultural members and other active congregants with potential to serve as personal resources persons and to share experiences, and/or to serve as cultural bridges for those who are newer to Louisville.  Along these lines, leadership in our congregation has offered training workshops to immigrant parents connected to our faith community (and in the broader communmity) on effective parenting in the U.S. context -- especially of adolescent children.

We are a friendly, welcoming church, and invite you to visit with us and participate in our exceptional, unique church.  Located in the historic Beechmont Neighborhood of south Louisville!!
